Evidence of settlements in the area of Cahocanqa can be found dating as far back as 20,000 BCE but there is no written evidence of a sizeable settlement until 800 BCE. Most believe that the city did not become prominent until around the year 100 and before then was just a notably sized tribal village. Being one of the oldest and most developed cities in Northern Crona, Cahocanqa has remained a seat of power for whoever has held the city. As the city was the historic capital of House Papa and was the attempted capital of House Wasi during the First War for Wasiqana.

The Etymology of Cahocanqa can be traced back to the eternal blessing of Makhuanine as Caho can be translated to "Connection" or "Binding". Although some scholars debate whether or not Caho held the same meaning it does today or if the cities name shaped the meaning of Caho in the modern Canespan language. Alternate meanings that have been suggested are "Growth", "Home", or even "Family". The second part of the cities name -can- has obvious ties to the countries name of Canespa, and can be translated as meaning "basket" which has long held symbolism as a connecting symbol of growth and prosperity. Finally -qa- can be translated to greater or more. This part of the names reasoning can be debated but most scholars agree it refers to the cities historic power and size in relation to neighboring areas.

Etymology

History

Establishment

Cahocanqa was first settled by the wandering Papa tribe in the vary early days of Canespa around 1000 BCE as archeological evidence shows. According to legend Makhuanine herself blessed seven cities with eternal harvests that would provide enough food to last for centuries so long as they each worshiped and respected a characteristic of her. The seven cities were Akanta, Bakqar, Cahocanqa, Tepetlcali, Kaigwa, Netalia, and Zepticaqa. These so called sister cities were some of the largest and most politically important cities on the subcontinent and they would be for centuries. The only one remaining is Cahocanqa which has eternally worshiped the connection of Makhuanine. With Tepetlcali and Kaigwa falling during the Second Occidental Invasion as its known in Canespan society.
