The runoff from the Fiannan highlands forms the Melis River, which runs to the Vandarch; the Melis is the dividing line between the two republics, Hollona and Diorisia. Hollona is a narrow strip of land west of the Melis which stretches from the Vandarch coast to the border with [[Rhotia]], never being more than about a hundred miles wide. Diorisia, meanwhile, makes up a majority of the land area of the Union State, encompassing a knob-shaped region comprising all of the land east of the Melis River to the Rhotian border.
