However, because of Kiravia's influence and, since 2010, because of the increasing influence of the Occident the M'acunist faith has largely fallen to the wayside in terms of it being the religion of the Netanic people, many of whom have embraced a form of secular nationalism as the importance of being of ethnic Netanic ancestry, even partially, became much more important to the Netansetts than adherence to a specific religious denomination. Because of the longtime influence of the Coscivian Catholic Church, the belief of Makuahine as the goddess of the earth, alongside belief in the Great Oneness, has largely been supplanted in favor of the veneration to a heavenly entity that has largely been inspired by the {{wp|Veneration of Mary in the Catholic Church|Virgin Mary}}, though there still exist many Netansetts whose beliefs are in line with the mainline of the Man School.
