The Izabel Stellara class of guided missile destroyers (DDGs) is a Cartadanian Navy class of destroyer built around the combat system, the SuperATLAS multi-function AESA radar, and the GAIA platform. The class is named for , a Cartadanian rear admiral during the Second Great War, well known for his expertise throughout the armed forces. The vessels are to be built as a partnership between Allocca, sister company, Valorica, and former Angelico-subsidiary, Aurora between Elisabeth Iron Works, Santária Yards, and Valorica Shipbuilding, with the lead ship of the class named for Admiral Izabel Stellara, herself, the first class of ship in Cartadania to be named for a woman in over 100 years.
It boasts a versatile multi-mission design, incorporating a sophisticated array of sensors and weapons that excel in area air defense. Notably, its anti-submarine warfare capabilities surpass those of previous Cartadanian surface combatants. Most notably, the class will make a departure from conventional propulsion systems by using integrated electric propulsion and pump-jets, among other systems.
The Stellara class is set to replace the decommissioning Padrón class of destroyers, with the first four ships to be decommissioned in 2038. The navy plans to replace 25 Biesca-class cruisers and 33 Padrón-class destroyers with the Stellara-class, in supplement to the Spitzer-class destroyers that will continue to be built alongside it.
