There are nine parishes in the state of Miraflores, all of which existed at the ratification of federal and state constitutions. Under the Miraflores State Constitution, all of its parishes are granted home rule to deal with problems that are purely local in nature. Each parish also serves as the boundary for a parish-wide school district, though some cities operate their own school systems.
