'''Madisar''' is a {{wp|satellite city}} on the northern end of the [[Bérasar]] metropolitan area. It is widely considered the most liberal and Westernised community in the nation.

After the end of Kirosocialism and the accompanying {{wp|economic liberalization|economic liberalisation}}, Madisar was one of the first Kiravian cities to experiment with modern {{wp|Place branding|city branding}} and {{wp|city marketing}}, with the goal of positioning itself as "Kiravia's International City" to attract foreign businesses, investment, and human capital. It is consistently ranked as one of the best Kiravian cities for expatriates and the most Anglophone-friendly city in the nation.   

Madisar was founded as a mill and market-town by Coscivian colonists from eastern Taństedan in 20546. As Fariva industrialised beginning in the 20970s, Madisar, which was located near (but not quite on) the eastern seaboard's {{wp|fall line}}, became a secondary center of industrial activity. Under Kirosocialist rule during the 21160s, the government of Fariva established the Fariva Technical Institute in Madisar, which trained a large number of informaticians, engineers and scientists. After the fall of Kirosocialism and the Kiravian economic miracle of the 21190s, Madisar became home to many wealthy Kiravians who had made their fortunes in Bérasar, many with the help of foreign investors and markets, and also to many FTI-educated returnees who had emigrated during the ''cuahyrvrætor''. This influx of residents with cosmopolitan worldviews laid the foundation for Madisar's later reputation as a center of Western culture in Kiravia.

Most Madisar residents belong to the professional and international business classes or are affiliated with the city's two institutions of higher learning: the Fariva Technical Institute and Darmon University, a Western-style institution where English is the medium of instruction. According to the [[Kiravian State Executive|State Executive]], Madisar has more international passport-holders (not to be confused with [[Passport system in the Kiravian Federacy|Kiravian internal passports]]) per capita than any other census tract with over 10,000 inhabitants at 763 passport-holders per 1,000 residents. The average rate for the entire Federacy is 411 passport-holders per 1,000 residents. A study conducted by Darmon University found that 53% of Madisar residents were fluent English speakers, compared to 2.4% nationwide, and 36% of non-immigrant residents had lived abroad for a year or more, compared to 16% nationwide.

Madisar is a rather secular city by Kiravian standards, statistically more so than any other city of significant size. While several large towns in Xirya have fewer religious ''affiliates'' (much of the unaffiliated population being irreligious theïsts and deïsts), Madisar has a greater share of residents classed as "nontheïst and irreligious" than any Kiravian city of significant size at 21.4%. The city is home to the second-largest Unitarian Universalist congregation in the Federacy after the First Unitarian Church of [[Valēka]]. 47.6% of residents declared a religious affiliation to the 21200 Kiravian Census, with the largest being Catholicism, the [[Kiravian Sectarians|Archepiscopalianism]], and Mercantile Reform Protestantism, the Bahá'í Faith, Methodism, Unitarian Christianity, and Liberal Catholicism.

 

Municipal politics is partisan and competitive. The statewide Freedom Plus Party (classical liberal) and the New Direction Party (post-Kirosocialist, progressive) are the main contenders. The Liberal Democratic Party of Kiravia is represented on the city council and boasts its strongest electoral results in Madisar.
