Ignazio I (Ignazio Orsino Montefeltro; born January 28 1979) is the current Emperor of Aciria and the head of House of Montefeltro. He ascended to the throne on May 27 2018 after the passing of his father, Emperor Sebastian. He is the eight Emperor of Aciria, and the eight head of the House of Montefeltro.
Ignazio was born on Montverde as the second child of Sebastian and Vittoria, then Emperor and Empress of Aciria. Ignazio became the heir apparent and Prince Imperial only in 2001 after his elder brother controversially married a non-noble, which in return made him ineligible for the throne of Aciria. He studied at School for the Distinguished in Trosseri until he was nine, when him acting up caused him to be sent to the Imperial Boarding school on Montverde, where he spent most of his youth. After Montverde, Ignazio attended Imperial University of Aciria where he studied law. In 2005 he married the eldest child of the head of house Carrari Luciana, whom he first met while studying at the Imperial University. Their first child and heir apparent, Lorenzo, was born in 2007.
Ignazio has on multiple occasions spoken of his interest in renewable energy, and enjoys playing tennis.
Early life
Ignazio was born on 28 January 1979 at 3:33 A.M. in the Ritiro Imperiale on Montverde. As he was not expected to be the heir apparent of Aciria, he was given more freedoms than his elder brother when it came to both his education and free time. Due to this, Ignazio in his childhood was known for being rowdy, unruly and "an embarrassment to the Imperial Seat", as described by his mother, according to Ignazio himself. To bring distance between the Imperial Seat and Ignazio, he was sent to a boarding school on Montverde.
Ignazio's childhood was reported to be generally happy, and he took great enjoyment in cinema, various sports, including his passion, tennis. His father wanted him to learn to play the piano or violin, but despite many attempts, Ignazio never paid enough attention to learn either fully. He also was a big fan of football, with F.C. Marocino being his favourite team and its star player Dante Martino his favourite player. He gained his firsthand experience with, and a budding interest in law on Montverde after visiting a family friend at dinner, where the family friend described his court case he had been working on. He attributes this interest as the factor that drove him to work harder in school to be able to study law eventually, which is what he ended up studying at Imperial University later on. Ignazio reportedly likes to inspect court cases from various courts in the country as a hobby, with little interest in actually intervening in it.
Education
At four years old, Ignazio enrolled in the School for the Distinguished in Trossera, a school where royalty and other elites of Aciria enroll their children. However, due to his unruly nature, he was eventually removed from the school and sent off to a boarding school on Montverde. He was in the tennis club during high school.
Ignazio eventually graduated from the Imperial University in 2001 with a Bachelors degree in law. He planned to spend a year traveling the empire to get to see the country and know the people shortly after graduation, but due to his brothers sudden marriage to a non-noble despite his parents disapproval, Ignazio was quickly invited to the Imperial Seat to be groomed as the future Emperor of Aciria. This was because he was seen as unfit to be Emperor, with the stigma of his unruliness as a child staying with him to his adulthood. He had received little to no training in ruling the Empire, as the family expected his brother to take the throne, with members of the Imperial Family marrying non-nobles was unheard of until now. Following his three months of training, he was able to go on his tour of Aciria as Prince Imperial, surprising the people and shocking the Imperial Family by personally conversing and shaking hands with the citizens. After the tour, he returned to the Imperial University to earn his Masters degree in law, earning it in 2005.
Personal life
Family
Ignazio first met Luciana Carrari during his studies at the Imperial University and was immediately captivated by her beauty and wit. Despite the disapproval of the Imperial Seat and Luciana's studies abroad for two years, Ignazio's interest in her remained. Once Luciana returned from her studies abroad, Ignazio proposed to her twice before she accepted, and finally in 2005, the two were married. In 2006 they announced her pregnancy, and in 2007 their first child Lorenzo was born.
Interests
Ignazio has on multiple occasions spoken of, and been in open support of green energy. In 2015 the Prince Imperial was named the honorary president of Azzurra company, a company specializing in the research and development of hydro and solar power technology. Since ascending to the throne in 2018, Ignazio has subsidized multiple research, development and construction projects that would further the Aciriani powergrid's use of green energy, hoping to phase out non-renewable sources of energy completely during his reign as Emperor. He also founded the Clean World organization, which encourages the joint development of green energy technologies between companies and states.
Ignazio plays tennis regularly, and enjoys following both domestic and international football games. He never bothered with learning instruments after childhood, citing the attempts at learning violin and piano put him off from the hobby. He also regularly hikes in the Montanaro region.
