Kiravia Telecast-Telegraph AKR. better known by the acronym KT is a multilingual, multinational news network based in Valēka, Kiygrava. It reports on current events with a special focus on Kiravian politics and world news.
History
The first incarnation of KT, Kiravia Telegraph AKR, was chartered by the Federal Stanora as a state corporation as part of the Public Diplomacy Act of 21190. The English-language Kiravia Telegraph newspaper was launched as part of the Rénkédar administration's effort to attract foreign trade and investment by projecting a positive image of Kiravia abroad. In 21199, the Stanora chartered Kiravia Worldwide Television Studios to reproduce Kiravia Telegraph content in televised form for broadcast by the privately-owned KBS International network. The first KWTS news programme, Kiravia Tonight aired on 5 Séglús, 21197 at 7:00pm local time in International City, Prycuse.
As Kiravia rose to grater prominence on the international stage and the demand for KWTS programming grew, the studio was gradually expanded into a full-service network conducting its own reporting and broadcasting over its own channels in most countries (though in Prycuse, the Echo Islands, and Uiri it remained with KBS as a carrier). In 21200 the network was rebranded as Kiravia Telecast and consilidated with the Kiravia Telegraph as Kiravia Telecast-Telegraph AKR. KT entered the first decade of the 211th century operating a television channel, print newspaper, and newssite, and would later establish a presence in microblogging and social media as these platforms became available.
The Candrin administration considerably increased KT's funding and operations with a renwed focus on the Ixnay region. It was during this time that KT diversified into a multilingual outlet offering content in Latin (now the network's largest audience), French, German, Kronatan, Aramaic, and Greek.
Content and Style
According to Director A.M. Vadikaserin, KT aims to "frame Kiravian views in ways that Westerners will understand them." KT presenters are all fluent speakers of the language that they present in. Newscasters, who spend the most time on the air, are usually native-born members of the majority ethnic group in their market. Presenters for other segments are typically Kiravians with extensive international experience or partial foreign background, except in Prycuse, where they are typically Kiravian residents of International City, and Axionnes, where they are typically Axiench Coscivians fluent in French.
Editorial Stance
KT claims to present an "objective, insider view of Kiravian life and politics that will inevitably differ from the eurocentric accounts found in Western media." It has, however, been accused of having a clear pro-Kiravian and pro-administration bias, reporting favourably on the policies of whichever Prime Executive and Stanora camp is in power, while engaging in airbrushing or apologetics regarding stories detrimental to the Federacy's image.
