The Nysdra Sea Guard is the joint naval force of the Nysdra Sea Treaty Association. Founded following the Final War of the Deluge, the Sea Guard serves as the official naval service branch of several NSTA members and is largely responsible for the protection of commerce and prevention of piracy in the Nysdra Sea. The Sea Guard also functions as a reserve naval force in support of military operations of the Royal Navy in protection of the Nysdra Sea region.

History

A unified naval force for members of the Nysdra Sea Treaty Association was envisioned as part of original discussions upon the formation of the Association in 2017, but stalled due to disagreements on possible command structure between New Harren and Quetzenkel. Although Urcea intended to provide for the naval defense of the Nysdra Sea region in accordance with the terms of the treaty, policymakers in Urceopolis continued to push on the idea of a shared local naval force in order to deal with trafficking and piracy issues. The issue was partly sidelined with the outbreak of the Final War of the Deluge, but during the conflict the Urcean Royal Navy took on extensive duties in the Nysdra including anti-crime efforts, and many policymakers and naval leaders cited the lack of local naval auxiliary forces as a "distraction" from Urcea's ability to prosecute the war with Varshan to its fullest extent. Quetzenkel had taken on some auxiliary duties by the end of the war, but the coast guards and navies of the other NSTA members - particularly New Harren and the trade cities - numbered about a dozen vessels in total, mostly smaller craft. Following the war, NSTA officials made joint naval procurement and local expansion a top priority, and on April 15th, 2026, the Sea Guard was established as the joint naval and coast guard force for all NSTA members except Urcea and Quetzenkel, the latter of whom had already extensively expanded their navy and made it a top policy priority. The new Sea Guard was equipped with several mothballed Royal Navy ships sold to it and the few pre-existing ships. As part of negotiations of the Treaty of Electorsbourg, the Sea Guard also received several ships as war prizes from Varshan. In February 2028, the new state of New Veltorina signed on as the seventh participant in the Sea Guard.
