History
The firm was founded in Ugdon, Caldera, in 1895 by two brothers, Jean Keun and Mathew Keun. The brothers were inspired by Tauk Manufacturing Company's success, noticed that Tauk was too focused on pistols, and there was a gap in the market for rifles.
The Keun brothers thought it likely they could make a quick fortune because of the Emirati War which made gun production a lucrative business. However, whereas Tauk gained international fame by selling their new Tauk Georgisch rifle, Keun's rifles were too new to the international market, so Keun made a deal with Tauk to produce the Tauk-Keun M1895 machine gun, which helped build Keun's reputation for military weaponry.
Keun made a profit selling rifles and machine guns during the First Great War, but after the war, the firm made a massive transition from strictly military to a large emphasis on civilian self defense, and hunting.
The fox branding was at first a failure as hunters associated the fox for small game hunting, but overtime, the foxes became associated with the Keun family coat of arms, which led the Calderan population to prefer Keun for hunting because it's more traditional.
The first Keun factory in Ugdon was converted into a train station, and later, a museum of Keun history was installed next to it. Keun still manufactures a variety of weaponry for hunters and militaries alike out of Neu Maessen.
