This article lists political parties in Castadilla. The Castadillaan political scene has been dominated by the People's Democratic Party ever since the end of the 1984 Velvet Revolution, although the Christian National Party, alongside the Democratic Reform Party, the Castadillaan Citizens' Party, and others have managed to maintain a presence in some regional and local governments.
As of 2029, the parties represented in the Congress of the Commons are the People's Democratic Party (256 MCs), the Christian National Party (80 MCs), the Democratic Reform Party (56 MCs), the Castadillaan Citizens' Party (53 MCs), the Democratic Farmers' Union (35 MCs), the Ecological Reform Party (8 MCs), Yes We Can! (7 MCs), and the Delepasian Alternative (5 MCs). Exclusively regional political parties are almost non-existent except for in Samalosi.
General overview
This lists represents all the existing parties recognised by the Supreme Court of Castadilla (note that these descriptions only apply to the leading factions of each party).
- The People's Democratic Party (FDP; PDP), a Velvetine socialist party, is a major party in Castadilla, resembling the Puertegan White Flag Communist Party in ideology albeit more socially progressive and economically liberal. The party was founded in 1986 during the Velvet Revolution in Xūrosar, Kiravia, by (among others) Vito Borbon, a revolutionary general who was one of the main opponents of the dictatorial regime and served as the nation's commander-in-chief from 1989 until 1994.
- The Christian National Party (FNC; PNC; PNK) is a traditional Christian Democrat and conservative party, similar to the Kiravian KA or the Tierradorian PpT. Founded shortly after the 1984 uprising, it was the only party that initially voted against the approval of a socialist constitution in 1996 until it was given assurances that the Catholic Church would not face persecution. The PNC currently congregates several right-wing tendencies ranging from moderate christian democrats to neoliberals and more socially conservative elements that have opted not to join the PRD.
- The Democratic Reform Party (FRD; PRD) is a Castadillaan nationalist and right-wing populist party founded by supporters of Raul Quintero's ideological beliefs before he was overthrown in 1987, two years after he overthrew the first revolutionary government. Enjoying its greatest support in states like Auxana, it is highly similar to the Tierradorian CuT, the Cartadanian National Revival, or the Fanerian Starkist wing of the Republican Party in that it is a socially conservative and nationalist party which also opposes immigration and multiculturalism and supports economic protectionism.
- The Castadillaan Citizens' Party (FCC; PCC; PSK) is a right-leaning centrist liberal and Castadillaan nationalist party. It supports further federalism within the nation, but it still believes that Castadilla is constitutionally indivisible. The party sees its greatest support in urban centres, non-Tainean farmers, and the nation's Special Economic Zones SEZs.
- The Democratic Farmers' Union (UDA) is a centre-right agrarian and green conservative party that supports Tainean interests. It was the party that created Castoustecism, an ideology that seeks a potential union of all Taineans under the Castadillaan flag; this ideology is most focused on a potential political union with the Urcean protectorate of Arona.
- The Ecological Reform Party (FRE; PRE) is a socially progressive green party that traditionally aligns itself with the nation's left-wing parties.
- Yes We Can! (ItP; SiP; LOM) is a left-wing populist party founded by renegade far-left members of the PDP. It supports turning Castadilla into a confederation as well as separating the office of the Commander-in-Chief from the person of the Emperor and making the former directly elected by the nation's populace.
- The Delepasian Alternative (AD) is a far-right nationalist party with very little political representation. It sees itself as the heir to the Estado Social's National Renewal Party.
- The Samalosian People's Party (PTS) is a regional interest party for the state of Samalosi. It is a big tent political party with an ordoliberal lean.
- The Loa Voters' Association (ATPL) is a regional interest party for the states of Kalanatoa and Na'aturie. The party is purely big tent due to the Castadillaan Loa's historical disdain for partisan politics, which they see as a purely Occidental invention.
