The South Sierra Independent School District is an independent school district based in the city of Miramar in Sierra County, Verona. Established in 1952, it serves all of the city of Miramar, portions of the cities of Dayson, Madera Ranch, and Rosslyn, as well as unincorporated southwestern Sierra County. The district operates 93 schools including 57 elementary schools, 23 middle schools, 13 high schools, and one alternative education center.
