Vithinjan Krigsflottjan

Belonging to the Armed Forces of Vithinja the Krigsflotilla or Warfleet (Ruthi: Kriksflåttjan) is one of two main maritime branch of the greater Vithinjan Military Union, the other being the Naval Defense Flotilla. They are one of three military branches within the Armed Forces whose representatives make up the Vithinjan High Command, together with three representatives from the Vithinjan National Guard and the Minister of War. Since the days when Vithinja first secured the entire northern island territories their naval forces have been a vital part of the military. Thanks to this the Krigsflotilla maintains significant assets allowing it to hit far above it's weight, although it is most effective when cooperating well with the Naval Defense Flotilla.
As a Warfleet the ships serving in this branch are distinctly made for naval strikes and raiding. While this once meant a significant number of heavy warships, lesson from the great wars changed Vithinjan naval doctrine towards more asymmetrical warfare options. This has resulted in some experimental strategies yet to see their first action but mainly it has caused the Vithinjan navy to invest fully into submarine warfare.

Etymology
Unlike most national naval forces the Vithinjan Krigsflotilla does not just go out of it's way to describe their institution as one made for attacking, it does so while having a defensive counterpart in the Naval Defense Flotilla.

The naval doctrine of the Krigsflottjan while changing over the years has never changed at it's heart.
As a Foreign (Determine nation) admiral once said about fighting the Krigsflottjan: "...When fighting the Vithinjans you have to be both cautious and thorough, because even if you take them down they will not hesitate to make sure you go down with them."
Despite the large disparity in size compared to other navies the Vithinjan fleet holds the record for the most intentional ramming maneuvers performed by any navy. This includes the only known intentional ramming of a wooden warship into an ironclad.
Modern Scattered Defense
Since the first deployments of nuclear tests by the Fhainnish military Vithinjan doctrine shifted direction. In an attempt to prevent the total destruction of naval assets in case of a first strike naval assets were focused on being smaller and cheaper, fielding a significant quantity and ensuring there was plenty of smaller bases to station them at.
Included in this doctrine is what is ominously referred to as the Vengance Doctrine. This is the idea that the Warfleet logistic structure should enable what remains of the fleet in a first strike situation to continue the fight through raids, sabotage and other asymmetrical warfare for a significant period of time.
