Élív
Élív is a holiday in temperate Coscivian cultures that celebrates the vernal equinox and the coming of Spring. Along with Saint Patrick's Day, some states' Arbor Days, and other local/ethnic celebrations, Élív forms part of a spring holiday season of great importance in Kiravia.

Élív is the main gift-giving holiday in Kiravia, and likely hindered the development of gift-giving as a Christmas custom in the country.
Drunk Uncle Don
The traditional giftbringer at the vernal equinox is Drunk Uncle Don, depicted as a fat, middle aged, redheaded drunk man clad in spring green and usually wearing garlands of hops, fresh tobacco leaves, and for some reason lemongrass and green onions. In the states of Koskenkorva and Uruvun, and among certain ethnic groups, he is depicted as carrying leeks to smack children with, but in most other communities his traditional child-smacking implement is a bundle of swamp horsetail stems. Drunk Uncle Don smacks all children regardless of how they behaved during the previous year, and also gives them gifts regardless of how they behave. He is cast as a benign but morally neutral figure who doesn't really know what the heck he is doing most of the time.
