Arimoro was founded in 1981 by third-generation coffee farmer Dacianus Martonisi in the highlands of Caphiria. Martonisi gained fame from his flagship heirloom coffee blend, which was a tribute to his great-grandfather Arimoronio. The first Arimoro coffeehouse was opened in an old Caphirian library that Dacianus frequented as a child. Many of the original architectural elements, including towering bookshelves and wooden reading tables, were preserved. To this day, every Arimoro outlet has a corner dedicated to literature and history, giving it an intellectual ambiance. As the chain expanded, it maintained its emphasis on specialized roasting techniques, adjusting for altitude to bring out distinct flavors in each coffee bean. In certain locations, Arimoro transitions its coffeehouses into bars during the evening, offering a variety of coffee-inspired beverages. This blend of tradition and innovation has marked Arimoro's journey in the global coffee industry.
Arimoro collaborates with local artists, offering them "residencies" in their cafes. Over a month, the artist creates works inspired by the coffee culture, the cafe ambiance, or the history of Caphiria. Their creations are then displayed and sold at the cafe. While most coffeehouses focus on the roasting duration, Arimoro concentrates on varying altitudes. They own a "Roasting Tower" where beans are roasted at different heights, each height imparting a unique flavor profile due to atmospheric variations.
Since 2024, the chief executive of Arimoro has been Nadiana Verrati. Founder Dacianus Martonisi is still chairman of the board but has removed himself from daily operations.
