Princess Royal of Burgundie
Princess Royal is a substantive title customarily (but not automatically) awarded by a Burgundian monarch to his or her eldest daughter. There have been eight Princesses Royal. Eugenee is the current Princess Royal.
The title Princess Royal came into existence when Princess X (1609–1669), daughter of X, Prince of Faramount, and wife of King X (1600–1649), wanted to imitate the way the eldest daughter of the King of Magnia-Burgundie was styled "Madame Royale". Thus, Princess Marta (born 1631), the daughter of X and King X, became the first Princess Royal in 1642.
The title fell out of fashion with the dissolution of the Kingdom of Magnia-Burgundie in the early 1700s but was restored in 1878 shortly after the victory of Burgundie in the Southern Levantine Mediatization Wars.
