The Rusana Patriotic Alliance is the largest and dominant party in the Majles of Rusana and leader of the Builders Alliance bloc.
The JPA is a big tent party that supports strong political centralization and statism. It represents constituencies across the middle class, ethnic minorities and several important eastern tribes. It has deep organizational links with the Party of Corummese Democrats and is regarded as generally pro-Corummese.
History
The JPA was founded in the eastern city of Khost in 1975 by prominent leaders of the large Badazai and Khosa tribes, which were embroiled at the time in an armed insurrection against the islamist-led central government. Bankrolled and armed by Corummese benefactors, the JPA and affiliated militias pushed the government into accepting a ceasefire and starting a process of national reconciliation in which the JPA gained legal status. National elections a year later were marred by violence and fraud and saw the fall of the islamist government in favor of a coalition of JPA and smaller ethnic parties. A spate of targeted assasinations of islamist figures in the following years led to a political crisis that threatened to spiral into a new round of civil war.
Ideology
The JPA calls for governance that is inclusive of Rusana's many tribes and ethnic groups
