Hermès Auto is a Urceo-Caenish automobile manufacturer headquartered in Cana, Canaery. Hermès sells high end performance vehicles to the mass consumer market as well as luxury vehicles. Established as a consumer automobile subsidiary of Saraçen Motors, Hermès quickly became the most prominent part of the company. Hermès is owned by the JHDS Group, an ownership group created for Hermès and Saraçen by Jehan-Hermès de Saraçe's children. JHDS Group sold Saraçen Motors to Sung-Gohan Automobiles in 2020, retaining control of Hermès.

History

Using profits from his successful race car venture Saraçen Motors, Jehan-Hermès de Saraçe founded Hermès Auto in 1970 as a way to increase company profitability by creating automobiles associated with the Saraçen name that had mass market appeal. The original designers of Hermès intended to use a more economical version of the same ethos employed at Saraçen in order to mass produce automobiles while still putting a premium on both experience and performance. Saraçe himself had little input on the day-to-day management or design choices of the new company, but served as its spokesman until his death in 1972 when both companies were left to his children, who formed the JHDS Group. The company's first production car, the Hermès Cheval, proved extremely popular in Canaery but especially among well to do Urceopolitans, and some form of Cheval remained in production until 1997. Although intended originally as a side project, Hermès soon far out-earned Saraçen and became a well known brand in its own right. By 1985, Hermès became the primary focus of the JHDS Group and replaced Saraçen as the main ownership entity of the company. Today, Hermès is one of Urcea's most well regarded consumer automobile brands. Hermès unveiled its first all-electric car available for sale in 2015. In 2020, the JHDS Group sold Saraçen Motors to Sung-Gohan Automobiles.
