Veltorine government-in-exile

The Veltorine government-in-exile, formally known as the Veltorine People's Republican Government in exile, was the government-in-exile of Veltorina, which lost its independence following its annexation by Caphiria following the First Great War. Between the First and Second Great War it resided in Trossera, but then relocated to Urceopolis out of military necessity. It then briefly resided in Herciana in the 1940s before relocating to Talionia in 1953. For much of its history, the Veltorine government-in-exile was recognized by Urcea and others as the sovereign authority over its territory and was a full member of the Levantia and Odoneru Treaty Association (until 1963). Beyond nations which recognized it, the government-in-exile was regarded internationally as the definitive representative of the Veltorine diaspora. It resided in Talionia for most of its existence, but following the Assumption Accords it lost Urcean recognition and was ordered to leave the country in 1984. During its residency in Talionia, it attracted a large following or Veltorine emigres. After its ejection from Talionia, it moved to the Cape and underwent several changes, including a shift in outlook towards the Capetian elements of the Veltorine diaspora due to forty years of interaction with Capetian government and society. Following years of negotiation, the Veltorine government-in-exile voted to disband itself and recognize New Veltorina on May 16th, 2026, recognizing that country as the sole legitimate governing sovereign state of Veltorine people.
