Owing to its developing governmental apparatus, Atavia does not have a well developed political culture. What political factions exist on the island tend to be based on geography or by economic sector. Within the faction of public officials aligned with fishermen, who comprise the majority of the Departmental Assembly and departmentsl governments, there are smaller sub-factions. Many of these are aligned with individual fishing settlements or are aligned based on traditional fishing grounds.
