Ankae is Metzetta's second-largest city, with a population of 3.5 million and an area of 430 square miles. It is one of Metzetta's Metropolitan Cities, which are not part of any province. Historically it was the capital of Daekang. Found on Metzetta's southeast coast, it is the country's most important port.

Etymology

"An" denotes "a place where land and sea meet," while "kae" means "wild." Altogether Ankae is thought to refer to the place where the wild currents of the sea meet the land.

History

Ankae was the capital of Daekang, the ancient kingdom which fell to Meseda-jo in 85 BC.

Geography

Ankae is found on Metzetta's southeast coast.

Ankae is divided into 16 gu (districts) which are in turn divided into dong (neighbourhoods).

Ankae is Metzetta's busiest cargo port. Regular ferry services can also be accessed from the city docks for both foot passengers and vehicles.

Universities in Ankae include Daekang University, Ankae National University, Ankae University of Education, Ankae University of Foreign Studies, Metzetta Maritime and Ocean University, Hotenwo University, Ankae Arts College, Ankae Institute of Science and Technology, Songjung Polytechnic College and Metzetta Catholic University.
