|It is prohibited to sell, serve or supply alcoholic beverages (beer, wine, cider, and sparkling wine) to anyone under 18 years of age. It is generally prohibited to serve, sell or supply any beverage containing spirits and foods containing spirits above negligible amounts, to anyone under the age of 18 years. Violators of this provision can be fined up to €10,000. The exception to this rule is that a person under 18 may consume alcohol in private, regardless of if a spirit or fermented, under the supervision of a parent, legal guardian, or spouse.

| Local ordinances may establish a local purchase age for some or all alcoholic beverages or a local drinking age for certain public places, mostly for public order and peace-and-quiet purposes. Licencing regulations may establish minimum purchase ages for certain classes of establishments (e.g. 16 for liquor stores, 15 for bars, none for pubs).
