Tierradorian nationality law (Tierradorian: Terranóq naçionlexinóq) details the conditions in which a person holds Tierradorian nationality. In the Tierradorian Woqalate, nationality is typically obtained through provisions in the Constitution, various laws, and international agreements. Citizenship is considered a right and not a privilege, with all persons who enter the nation being eligible to receive citizenship. While the domestic documents often use citizenship and nationality interchangeably, nationality refers to the legal means in which a person obtains a national identity and formal membership in a nation and citizenship refers to the relationship held by nationals who are also citizens.

A Tierradorian-issued passport

Individuals born within the 17 mainland regions and 3 overseas regions of Tierrador usually receive nationality by birthright. Foreign nationals living in any state or qualified territory may naturalize after becoming permanent residents and meeting a residence requirement (normally five years). Nationality and citizenship in Tierrador is governed by the Bureau of Residence, a child branch of the Home Office

Type of Nationality

There are four classes of Tierradorian nationality. Usually, these types are distinguished in bureaucratic documents (such as TIO, OLE or OHS), however all are considered to be Tierradorian nationals. Below is a list of nationality types:

Tierrador National (Mainland Permanent) - Permanent resident, national and citizen of Mainland Tierrador.
Tierrador National (Overseas Permanent) - National and citizen of Tierrador, though is a permanent resident of an overseas collectivity.
Tierrador National (International Permanent) - National and citizen of Tierrador, though permanently residing in a foreign nation. Usually, this type only applies to individuals who contain dual citizenship, or Tierradorian nationals working abroad.
Tierrador National (Non-Resident) - National of Tierrador who is not residing in Mainland Tierrador nor the Overseas Collectivities of the nation.

Mainland Permanent (Class M)

Class M nationals are citizens of Tierrador who have a Registered Térdomuq in the Mainland 17 regions of Tierrador. Usually, individuals in this class were born in the 17 regions or are enrolled in the 76 federally-recognized Abio Nations in Mainland Tierrador. They have the right to abode and unrestricted work authorization anywhere throughout all territory controlled by the Tierradorian Republic.

Overseas Permanent (Class O)

Class O nationals are citizens of Tierrador who have a Registered Térdomuq in the 2 Cronan Islands (Sonaxa and La Plazal), and/or the 6 Overseas Islands (Saukhin Islands, Oenqer, New Taisgol, Okatia, Gophešo and Tsunán), along with the 8 federally-recognized Abio Nations residing in those possessions. Class O nationals are similar to Class M nationals, possessing the right to abode and unrestricted work authorization anywhere throughout all territory controlled by the Tierradorian Republic. The existence of this nationality class has been a debate across all social platforms across Tierrador, as most believe that there is no need for a nationality class that possess the same rights as another, and in extreme cases, it has been used as an example of classism and the historical issues of classism in Tierrador.

International Permanent (Class I)

Class I nationals are considered citizens of Tierrador, however they reside in a foreign nation for 100+ days per year. This category usually consists of foreign nationals who possess dual citizenship with Tierrador and their home nation, however, in rare cases, Class I citizens are possess Tierradorian citizenship only, however they are employed with an international corporation (e.g. A Tierradorian citizen employed for a branch of international bank VTBC in Alstin). The right to abode for this category depends on the law of the nation an individual is currently residing in, however, in the event that they must return to Tierrador, they possess the right to abode (if they have a Registered Térdomuq) and unrestricted work authorization throughout the Tierradorian Republic.
