The Ministry of the Treasury is the Executive Ministry of the Office of the Imperium responsible for the taxation in Caphiria. The Ministry collects taxes, administers macroeconomic policies, and plans the national budget of Caphiria. It also handles fiscal policy, economic regulations, public investments, and government expenditure for the Imperium. The ministry also records and publishes annual macroeconomic data on Caphiria's economy. This includes information such as previous economic growth rates in Caphiria, central government debt and borrowing, and many other indicators regarding the economy of the Imperium.
The Ministry of the Treasury is divided into two departments: the Department of Taxation and Fiscal Affairs (DTFA) and Department of the Treasury (simply and confusingly referred to as the Treasury).
The Department of Taxation and Fiscal Affairs is primarily responsible for: the collection of taxes through the Central Tax Service and Office of Quaestors; collecting import tariffs through the Customs Service; developing economic and public finance policies; the administration of public finance and external debt; preparing the annual budget of the central government, priority spending, balancing the budget; it also contains the regulators for financial services and markets, banking and insurance, and alcohol and narcotics.
The Department of the Treasury is responsible for: printing all paper currency and coins through the Office of Engraving, Minting & Printing; executing its circulation in the domestic fiscal system through the actual state treasury the Aerarium; it also provides support to entrepreneurs and small businesses.through its Office of Business Lending Programs; it investigates domestic and international financial crimes through its Office of Financial Crimes Enforcement; provides accounting, financing, collections, payments, and shared services through the Office of Accounting and Statistics, and finally it manages the maintenance and conservation of both the Crown Jewels of the Imperium - the massive collection of art, clothing, furniture, property, residences, gems and jewels, and other items owned by the Imperium, and the national buildings, office spaces, monuments, and other facilities through the Office of National Property and Possessions.
The Ministry of the Treasury has been led by Luccia Castoclerus since 2009.
