As the seat of the Federal government of Puertego, San Lina is home to many important institutions of the federal government, national monuments, and museums. This includes the capitol building, the Puertegan Supreme Court, the presidents residence and the headquarters of numerous government agencies. The city is where the Puertegan People's army bases most its institutions out of, however most of its operations are centered in and in the states around the Natiserve bay as to not potentially damage any infrastructure in or around the city, San Lina is home to the largest number of soldiers anywhere in Puertego with almost half the nation's armed forced being stationed there at any time.

San Lina has long been a region that has desired greater autonomy that the federal government of Puertego didn't want to give it, however this changed with the creation of a new constitution under the Puertegan White Flag Communist party which turned San Lina from just the capital to a municipality in San Lina with its own special rights and privileges that are greater than those offered to states, however the city still has only a fraction of the rights afforded to many other municipalities in other countries and is just as politically repressed as the rest of Puertego with independent news outlets being shut down by the government often, people being charged with several things to keep them from criticizing the government or exposing corruption and much more.

San Lina is the country's industrial and financial center, home to many national companies and hotels. It accounts for more than two-thirds of Peru's industrial production and almost all of its service sector.
The cities various SIZ's contain an estimated 12,000 factories set up by private companies in order to boost the economy from private investment serve as the nations primary source of industry, some of the most produced products include refined metals, refined petroleum, textiles, various consumer goods, and chemicals with the cities financial center being one particularly large SIZ in the center of the city while the nations industry mainly takes place in SIZ's dotted around the city though primarily concentrated around the southern parts of the city close to the Torres International Airport. Industrialization began primarily in the late 2000's with the creation of the SIZ's and increased rapidly making manufacturing account for over half of GNP with the Rodriguez sea port being the countries primary fishing and shipment hub with the port exporting over 31 metric tons of goods in the last year manufactured in San Lina.

Foreign investment in San Lins remains on the increase with the government planning to create 15 new SIZs around the city in order to keep up with the growing demand. The San Lina stock exchange is one of the fastest growing on the continent and has been since 2012. There has been frustration in San Lina over the massive income inequality in the country due to the subsides and tax breaks given to private companies and lack of regulations meaning they can get rich while their workers often stay barely above the poverty line.

Primary education
Primary education in Puertego is provided by the state with it servicing almost the entire student population of San Lina, private schooling is illegal in all Puertegan cities however it is common practice for high ranking officials in the Puertegan government to send their children out of the country for their primary schooling due to the often poor conditions of Puertgan schools. Attendance is mandatory in all schools but students are given the option to drop out once they hit 6th grade with many doing so in order to help in supporting their family by working.

Post secondary education in Puertego is fairly limited with the city only having one university in the University of San Lina which is the oldest in the country. The university is regarded as being of fairly good quality and is free however due to many citizens dropping out the number of citizens who attend is remarkably low with only around 20,000 students, though the university does have programs abroad to try and encourage foreign students to go there. The university has a more limited pool of majors compared to many others with the main ones offered being in medical fields, engineering, business, and architecture.

Infrastructure
Highways
Highways
Highways in San Lina are surprisingly well maintained compared to the rest of the country with almost all the roads in the city being paved and regularly maintained, however there is a good deal of traffic congestion primarily made by drivers in the state taxi service with the average San Linan spending 48 hours a year in traffic and the average commute to work being 30.5 minutes. The government has made plans to reduce travel times by building additional roads through the cities slums to try and allow the residence shorter travel times to their jobs and has also been working on road systems out of the city limits to more easily allow for travel between San Lina and other cities but road conditions outside the city still remain poor.
Transit systems
Transit systems
The metro in San Lina has been operational since 1999 with it being price fixed in 2003 to accommodate the average Puertegan salary. The metro has 5 lines and 32 stations with an additional 8 being planned to be built in the near future, the metro covers a large part of the city with the central region of the city entirely covered and coverage being expanded further out to the eastern and western parts as well, all major sites in the city are covered and large settlements formal and informal also have easy access to the metro. The metro uses an integrated ticket system to combine the bus and taxi systems into one payment system.
San Lina also has a taxi service known as the San Linan Universal Taxi Service (SLUTS) ran by the government, the system started in 2010 in order to make safer ways of above ground transportation, the system has over 20,000 Standard People's Compact Vehicle ordered from Daxia to start the program which now includes over 300 transit routes, though they are cheap but feature poor driving habits. Fares are agreed upon before the passenger enters the taxi. the system has garnered a fair bit of controversy for the government using it as an excuse to ban ride sharing apps from Puertegan cities.
Airports
Airports
San Lina has the largest airport in the country in the Torres International Airport with the port reviving the majority of the cities domestic and international passengers. The city has five other airports around the city with an additional international airport currently under construction and expected to be operational in the next 3 years, the city has many additional runways in the areas around the city.
