The '''House de Weluta''' the reigning royal house of the [[Urcea|Apostolic Kingdom of Urcea]] as well as the Kingdoms of [[Talionia]] and [[New Yustona]]. The house originated as a cadet branch of the [[House of the Julii]]. Emerging victorious from the [[Saint's War]] and Great Interregnum in the 14th Century, the House de Weluta has ruled over Urcea with two notable interruptions since. Several of its members, beginning with [[Emperor Leo III of the Holy Levantine Empire|Emperor Leo III]], have reigned as [[Emperor of the Levantines]], and since the [[Great War]] that title has been permanently associated with the dynasty.
The '''Order of the Lore''', also referred to as '''Lorewards''' is a time honored tradition of Ixnay begun by [[User:Burgundie]]. Its inductees are recognized for their contribution to the regional lore. Historically, the Lorewards have not only served as a recognition of a member's importance to the lore continuum but also as an incentive for the development of lore. The Order of Lore determinations are made by weekly rotating panels of three members of the community staff as well as the Community Assistant volunteers. Daily awards are given for the best edit in a day not including infoboxes and other filler content. Daily winners require at least 1x 1000+ byte entry. A degree of discretion is given to the panelists to determine the winner of a day. Preference will be given to extraordinary contribution to collaborative global lore, lore written for someone else or for not just the player nation, overall quality of the written lore, or for extremely well written novel topics. Emerging precedent suggests that preference should be given towards size of edits to a page, but with smaller, more substantial articles given preference in any given day provided that they are not significantly smaller. Non-substantive list articles (like [[List of equipment of the Armed Forces of Urcea]]) will not be considered unless there are no other eligible entries in a day, in which case the editor will receive a runner-up status on the day if it is the only entry. A runner-up award for each day will also be given, although no medal will be conferred upon them. The winner of a daily award can not also win the runner-up award for the same day. Weekly winners are determined from the total number of daily wins or runner up statuses per day with some consideration to consistency of edit volume, and monthly awards consider how many weeklies and dailies won by a member. Monthly award winners will be nominated by [[User:Urcea]] and confirmed by the end of the month weekly panelists. Annual awards will consider all of the above while also considering high level page contributions and overall consistency. Rulings may be appealed in a straight forward and non-whiny way, but if appealed the ruling is final. Appeals should be focused on the criteria established herein.
 
Previous iterations of the award, awarded through 2020, used a different criteria. While the awards therein are considered valid, the records are incomplete. Lorewards were not issued between March 2020 and March 2022. Lorewards were also not issued between April and July 2022. When noted as "None Awarded", a date means that a lore panel made a determination for that date and that there were no eligible entries; when a date is skipped, it indicates no empaneled body considered that day.

===Medals===
 
Members who win will be awarded medals for their daily, weekly, monthly, and annual awards. A daily win will convey a single bronze medal {{BronzeLW}}. A weekly win will convey a silver medal {{SilverLW}}. A monthly win will award three silver medals {{SilverLW}}{{SilverLW}}{{SilverLW}}. An annual win will award a platinum Burg cross medal {{BurgLW}}.
 
Medals are awarded on a hierarchy. Silver medal will be made from ten bronze medals {{SilverLW}}. A gold medal will be made from five silver medals {{GoldLW}}. A platinum Burg cross medal {{BurgLW}} will be made from five gold medals.
 
Medal counts were reset with the reinstitution of the order in March 2022. Previous medal counts were ignored and all medals are issued from March 16, 2022 onwards.

Active members are members of the Order who are considered to be active on Discord while making relatively frequent edits on IxWiki. Members are listed by date of induction into the order. Dates of induction are from either their first award from joining the order or from returning as an active member.

Like all other Royal houses throughout the history of [[Urcea]], the House de Weluta is the "great house" of the Estate of the Julii within the [[Estates of Urcea]]. [[King Riordan VIII]] is the head of the House de Weluta and Custóir of the Julii Estate. The main line of the House is sometimes distinguished from the rest of the House by being referred to as the "''Carolines''", or even more rarely, the "''House of Caroline''", based on the agnomen adopted under the [[Tria nomina movement|tria nomina system]], ''Carolinicus''.

During a lengthy period of dynastic struggle in Urcea's history known as the [[Saint's War]], the House of Julio-Aleckán - direct heirs of [[St. Julius I]] - fought for control of the [[Apostolic King of Urcea|Julian Throne]]. Struggling with the House of Cónn, the Urcean Crown changed hands five times before the beginning of the Great Interregnum, a period in which Urcea was divided into the [[Urceopolis (Archduchy)|Archduchy of Urceopolis]] and [[Grand Duchy of Yustona]], with the holder of each claiming to be King but [[Urceopolis (City)|Urceopolis]] itself in the hands of the Papacy. The Aleckán dynasty died out during this period, and the Grand Duchy of Yustona passed to a cadet branch, the House de Weluta.


Prior to its involvement in the dynastic feuds for the Urcean Crown, the Welute or Velucian Clan was a relatively minor clan in the [[Ionian Highlands]] in the eastern part of Urcea, but came into some prominence as a mercenary band during the [[Saint's War]]. [[List of Urcean monarchs#House%20of%20Julio-Aleck.C3.A1n%203|King Lucás I of the House of Julio-Aleckán]] enlisted the Velucian clan's aid in seizing [[Urceopolis (City)|Urceopolis]] in 1312, and as a reward the head of the clan was married to a daughter of King Louis and was given lands in the [[Urceopolis (Archduchy)|Archduchy of Urceopolis]], including one with a large outcropping of granite. The clan built [[Castle Welute]] and the lead branch of the clan became the House de Weluta from that point forward, though the Velucian Clan continued to exist in some form in the highlands until the middle of the 16th century.

In the later portions of the Great Interregnum, the House de Weluta suceeded the [[List of Urcean monarchs#House%20of%20Julio-Aleck.C3.A1n%203|Aleckán]] dynasty as head of the Aleckán faction, and in so doing the de Welutas inherited the [[Urceopolis (Archduchy)|Archduchy of Urceopolis]]. Galvanizing the highland clans and Aleckán loyalists, Lucás de Weluta managed to end the [[Saint's War]] at the Battle of Glens Falls in 1401, becoming [[Apostolic King of Urcea]]. While some questioned the legitimacy of the de Welutas on the account of "mere" female succession from the Aleckáns, King Lucás II married the Cónn heiress following the battle, uniting the two branches of the [[Julian dynasty]] under House de Weluta.


While the house was briefly deposed during the 16th century, it was restored during the [[Great Confessional War]] with [[Emperor Leo III of the Holy Levantine Empire|King Leo II]] emerging victorious over Protestant rivals in 1565. The house was again briefly deposed prior to the [[Red Interregnum]] but was restored in 1902.

The Order of the Lore, also referred to as Lorewards is a time honored tradition of Ixnay begun by User:Burgundie. Its inductees are recognized for their contribution to the regional lore. Historically, the Lorewards have not only served as a recognition of a member's importance to the lore continuum but also as an incentive for the development of lore. Pages which won their editors awards under the criteria established in 2022 may be viewed at Award winning pages.

Rules and determinations

The Order of Lore determinations are made by weekly rotating panels of three members of the community staff as well as the Community Assistant volunteers. Daily awards are given for the best edit in a day not including infoboxes and other filler content. Daily winners require at least 1x 1000+ byte entry. A degree of discretion is given to the panelists to determine the winner of a day. Preference will be given to extraordinary contribution to collaborative global lore, lore written for someone else or for not just the player nation, overall quality of the written lore, or for extremely well written novel topics. Emerging precedent suggests that preference should be given towards size of edits to a page, but with smaller, more substantial articles given preference in any given day provided that they are not significantly smaller. Non-substantive list articles (like List of equipment of the Armed Forces of Urcea) will not be considered unless there are no other eligible entries in a day, in which case the editor will receive a runner-up status on the day if it is the only entry. A runner-up award for each day will also be given, although no medal will be conferred upon them. The winner of a daily award can not also win the runner-up award for the same day. Weekly winners are determined from the total number of daily wins or runner up statuses per day with some consideration to consistency of edit volume, and monthly awards consider how many weeklies and dailies won by a member. Monthly award winners will be nominated by User:Urcea and confirmed by the end of the month weekly panelists. Annual awards will consider all of the above while also considering high level page contributions and overall consistency. Rulings may be appealed in a straight forward and non-whiny way, but if appealed the ruling is final. Appeals should be focused on the criteria established herein.

Previous iterations of the award, awarded through 2020, used a different criteria. While the awards therein are considered valid, the records are incomplete. Lorewards were not issued between March 2020 and March 2022. Lorewards were also not issued between April and July 2022. When noted as "None Awarded", a date means that a lore panel made a determination for that date and that there were no eligible entries; when a date is skipped, it indicates no empaneled body considered that day.

Determinations are to be made using EST time.

Medals

Members who win will be awarded medals for their daily, weekly, monthly, and annual awards. A daily win will convey a single bronze medal . A weekly win will convey a silver medal . A monthly win will award three silver medals . An annual win will award a platinum Burg cross medal .

Medals are awarded on a hierarchy. Silver medal will be made from ten bronze medals . A gold medal will be made from five silver medals . A platinum Burg cross medal will be made from five gold medals.

Medal counts were reset with the reinstitution of the order in March 2022. Previous medal counts were ignored and all medals are issued from March 16, 2022 onwards.

Active Members

Active members are members of the Order who are considered to be active on Discord while making relatively frequent edits on IxWiki. Members are listed by date of induction into the order. Dates of induction are from either their first award from joining the order or from returning as an active member.
