Operation Kipling

Operation Kipling was a series of wars fought by a coalition of nations led by Burgundie against the South Alshar ComIntern and various communist militias in Alshar from 1966-1983. It cemented Burgundies roles as a major player in global politics and reinvested Burgundie in the destiny of South Punth. It also, through war industry, launched some Alshari nations, like Xingkai'pei, firmly into the 20th century where it has been able to keep pace with many occidental nations.

Background

Communism in Alshar goes back as far as in 1906 when philosopher Kass Gazisishir started to prepare a communist coup by rallying people and arranging secret meetings. These were known as the "Kuruls" which later also named the country. Support of communism within the starving and underdeveloped Kloi Empire grew strong with promises to a brighter future. in 1909 the Kloi civil war broke out which was fought inbetween the Empire and a variety of communist militias, including Kandarans. In 1915 the civil war was victorious for the communists which led to establishing the Kurul Union. These were the first instances of Alshari communism. In 1910 Lui Po created the Proletariat Army in the Ching Ky Alshar Republic. By the late 1940s the Proletariat Army had taken control of the whole nation and expanded its borders to create the Xingkaipese Union. Very little international attention was paid to these events as the Great War was raging at a fever pitch. The Communist Party of the Xingkaipese Union co-founded, with many other communists and socialist thinkers across South Punth the South Punth ComIntern (SPCI). Through the SPCI, communist insurgencies were formed across South Punth. Following the conclusion of the Great War, most occidental powers, including Burgundie were war-weary and rendered unable to conduct long and far off wars, so the period between 1953 and 1966 continued to see a Punth left to its own devices.

Starts with a pro-communist coup in Kandara in 1962 led to Burgundian military intervention. (1950s American intervention in Cuba-a-like) Bergendii (white) farmers rise in Rhodainia, Kandara. Petitions Burgundie to become a directly controlled county, denied many times but used as an invitation to get reinvolved in Punthite affairs. A group of Republican Burgo-Kandarans are landed in Bulkh to infiltrate Kandara and restore the democratic institutions. It is a total disaster, communist insurgents what is now the Bulkh People's Republic kill all of the Burgo-Kandarans and present them to the South Punth ComIntern. The guerrillas in Bulkh and the communist government in Kandara are heavily supplied and funded by the SPCI. In 1965, the communist guerrillas establish enough control over northeastern Bulkh, that they are able to declare a new state, the Bulkh People's Republic.

In 1964, the election of a communist government in Khyarvi demonstrates the ability of the South Punth ComIntern to take over not only by military force but also through democratic/diplomatic means.

Corummi-Xingkeipese War

As the Proletariat Army consolidated their control of Xingkai'pei the Corummese politicalos looked fearfully on but the government failed to take any significant action. As the 1940s rolled into the 1950s the newly formed communist Xingkaipese Union was declared and the Wei government was exiled to Corumm. There the Wei government attempted to drum up support for an invasion of their homeland and a their restoration. Still struggling to build its own stable "democracy" Corumm delayed any action against Xingkai'pei. Beyond this the Xingkaipese Union bore no ill will toward Corumm and focused its revolutionary communist agenda in other directions. For twenty years the peace remained uninterupted.

After the disasterous attempts by Burgundie and later Urcea to win in Punth,so far rom home, it was clear Corumm would need to become the continental bulwark against communism, so in 1968,with support from a variety of occidental nations the military government of Corumm recognized the Wei government as the legitimate government of Xingkai'pei and started building and training an invasion force. The generals took the oppurtunity to rapidly modernize the military and bought millions of tones of arms and vehicles that were surplus from the Great War. In a matter of 2 years Corumm became the dominant military power in Punth. In June of 1970 Corumm began the invasion of Xingkai'pei.
