Immediately after it opened in 1897, the Library of Congress Thomas Jefferson Building was widely considered to be the most beautiful, educational and interesting building in Washington. This official Architect of the Capitol photograph is being made available for educational, scholarly, news or personal purposes (not advertising or any other commercial use).
