English: Painting of clipper ship Shooting Star. Written on back: "Builder: James O Curtis, Medford, Mass., Feb. 8, 1851. Dimensions: 171' x 35' x 18'6". Tonnage: 903 tons. Type: Extreme Clipper Ship. Full named: Shooting Star."

Note on other ships of this name: A second Shooting Star, a medium clipper, was built in New York in 1859, and captured and burned by Confederate privateer Chickamauga, in 1864. A third Shooting Star was an extreme clipper built in New York under the name of Ino. This ship was renamed Shooting Star in 1867.
