Narwhal Juncture 37, abbreviated NJ37, was a LOTA-led military exercise held in the Sea of Canete from November 17 until November 24, 2037. Narwhal Juncture was the last ever military exercise of LOTA prior to its dissolvement and replacement by the Levantine Union Defense Council. The exercise saw major contingencies from the Urcean Royal Navy, Navy of Burgundie and Marine Yonderre and was the largest exercise in LOTA history in terms of manpower and materiel since the Levantine Trident 2022 exercise.
The exercise was agreed to at a LOTA staff meeting in September of 2036 and slated to be held in December that year. However, with the advent of the Nysdra Sea Treaty and Urcea's subsequent war with Algoquona, the three LOTA members agreed to postpone the operation one year into the future. Eventually, as tensions were rising in Sarpedon, particularly after the Shootdown of Bussdaberian Airways Flight 815 and the Eshelian surprise invasion of Bussdaberria, it was decided to hold the exercise at an earlier date, thus starting in mid-September.
The exercise ran for seven days and was overseen by Deputy Návarce Iarn David Gallio of the Urcean Royal Navy. Besides interception and dissimilar air combat exercises, it featured surface and anti-submarine warfare, maritime interdiction, at-sea training, aircraft carrier operations, maritime patrol and reconnaissance operation, and visit, board, search, and seizure operations to counter piracy and other non-state acts at sea.
Prior to the commencement of the exercise all of the senior and flag officers met aboard the Sentinelle for a meet and greet and to review final details as the remainder of the fleets arrived. While the planning team had all been meeting for the previous year and a half, the final roster had been slightly changed for the Burgoignesc contingent to address rising tensions with Pukhtunkwa in Audonia. The remainder of the day was spent tuning communications capabilities and confirming other critical interoperationalities.
Between the three nations present the exercise included an aircraft carrier, four cruisers, six destroyers, six frigates, seven amphibious warefare ships, three corvettes, four attack submarines, and two infantry companies. In all, the exercise constituted (like a million) personnel both on board the ships at play and also those communications and command personnel in their home nations.
The Burgoignesc contingency for Narwhal Juncture 37 numbered three destroyers, a missile frigate, two amphibious warfare ships, six support vessels, four attack submarines and an experimental drone aircraft-control cruiser. These elements were drawn from various naval formations to create the temporary Interdiction and Support Flotilla 382 (Burg: Flote Interdie e Aidicasien) (FIA 382) with the exception of the experimental drone aircraft-control cruiser which was still in sea-trials.
FIA 382 was built under the command of Propostdrungarie (Vice Rear Admiral) Abhan-Bastien Farhadie, based on the flagship NB Incorrigeble, an Amfitriere class destroyer. The remainder of the fleet were divided into two Action Groups.
The Royal Navy of Urcea sent the largest of the forces for Narwhal Juncture in terms of both manpower and materiel, sending the Adjudicator-class aircraft carrier HMCMS Riordan Rex, four cruisers, three destroyers, three frigates, an amphibious transport and two amphibious transport docks.
The forces of Marine Yonderre devoted to Narwhal Juncture 37 was the smallest of the contingencies, despite the fact half of Yonderre's capital ships were present for the operation. The Yonderian contingency numbered the Sentinelle-class helicopter carrier Sentinelle, two Vigilante-class support frigates and three Infatigable-class corvettes. In adition to the ships, two companies of the Guard Dragoon Division participated, launching as a simulated invasion force by combat helicopters from the Sentinelle-class helicopter carrier, temporarily occupying several minor island in the Sea of Canete.
