History

Faamoemoe is the result of a late 2010's design study to create a mobile hospital as part of a program called Mobile Force, which also fielded the Plo-class amphibious support ship among other modern military assets. This program called for the deployment of a expeditionary military force beyond Stenza's home waters with enough support facilities to allow its continued operation away from home, paving the way for Stenza's involvement in joint League of Nations operations. Faamoemoe uses readily available civilian shipbuilding techniques, with its design intended to allow other vessels in the class to be built on a relatively short notice if ordered. Ministry of Defense studies are ongoing as of 2029 to discover whether a second vessel is neccessary.

The ship was launched in 2025, with the ship being commissioned after outfitting and testing in 2027. The ship is equipped with state of the art medical equipment courtesy to the latest innovations from both within Stenza and its partners. These innovations allowed the ship to grow from its rather basic design to a competent medical hub at sea.

Famoemoe spends most of her time in port with a skeleton crew, being kept ready to deploy within mere days if called upon. The ship's medical complement if deployed consists of reservist experts from across Stenza's military branches, with personnel being selected based upon availability and expertise. In 2028, the ship deployed on a six-month mission to support League of Nations Command forces in their peacekeeping efforts around Varshan, with personnel rotating in and out on a monthly basis. As of June 2029, the ship is at port.

Design and Capabilities

Faamoemoe design is of rather conventional nature, using civilian design techniques used in contemporary liners to create a vessel that has both the space, speed and range to meet its mission. The ship has two screws being driven by Combined gas and gas technology, with two gas turbine engines driving each screw. Each gas turbine has its own unique diesel backup, guaranteeing both speed and power the output required to run critical medical facilities even if the gas engines fail.

The ship has a capacity of 300 beds. Its Intensive Care Unit has 20 beds. The surgical wing has 8 operating theatres, and can perform 40 major surgeries a day. In addition, X-ray, ultrasound, CT, hypothermia, hemodialysis, dental facilities, a morgue and a combat traige center are present. A remote networking and communications suite allow the ship to teleconference with doctors and other medical specialists on either the Stenzan mainland or at any other suitable medical facility across the world. Faamoemoe is equipped with a helicopter deck and a hangar bay, carrying a standard utility helicopter that can be configured for medical evacuation missions with 6 stretchers, and a larger utility helicopter that is configured for medical evacuation with 9 stretchers.
