The Wipe was an event that occurred in August of 2020, when perfidious and altogether untrustworthy server hosts perpetuated a {{wp|crime against humanity}} against IxWiki by unceremoniously canceling its hosting service and summarily deleting its content. This incident was a major blow to the Lore War as many thousands of bytes were lost. The Wipe lead to a major loss of confidence in the continuation of canon given its occurrence at a low ebb of activity coinciding with the {{wp|COVID-19}} pandemic. However, quick-thinking rescue efforts saved a majority of lore from Google cache ensuring that canon would be able to continue. [[User:Kir]] had also long been maintaining backups.
