The BORA Waste to Energy Compact went into effect in 2027 with construction of two Waste to Energy power planta starting in 2028. The two planta built in Wintergen generates approximately 208,000 kWh/day with a waste reduction capacity of 2200,000 kg/day.
Most of the electricity in Wintergen is provided by the Remalaund Power Factory outside of Volcamor. The Remalaud Power Factory is a Geothermal_power#Binary_cycle_power_stations built in 2012 to replace the flash steam station geothermal plant that had been built in 1984, itself replacing a peat burning station that had previously powered the island.
