Corcoran Institution
The Corcoran Institution is a Kiravian quasi-governmental educational, scientific, historical, and cultural institution best known for operating a consortium ten admission-free museums in the Kiravian capital, Kartika.
History
The Corcoran Institution was made possible by Séamus Corcoran, a Kuhlfrosian chemist and natural philosopher best known for pioneering several early methods for the refinement of handwavium ore. Though he never visited Great Kirav himself, he read about it in a book once and declared it "pretty cool", and subsequently bequeathed X talers to the Confederate Republics of Kirav for the establishment of an institution to disseminate useful and edifying knowledge and educate the citizenry of the nascent republic.
Finance & Governance
The Corcoran Institution is a semi-private organisation receiving some sponsorship, oversight, and financial assistance from the Government of the Kiravian Federacy, with which it enjoys a close relationship. However, the majority of the Institution's funding comes from its endowment and from private donations.
