Members of CCTU-affiliated unions may adhere to any faith, unions themselves are required to have a Christian character. The CCTU is most strongly influenced by Catholic social teaching, and Catholics have traditionally been overrepresented in its central leadership. A proposed merger with the Islamic Labour Federation was rejected in 21192, though the two organisations coöperate closely.
CCTU unions and guilds are distributed over a wide range of industries and specialties. Unions representing workers at church-affiliated workplaces, such as Catholic universities or cemeteries, are overwhelmingly affiliated to the CCTU, as are workers in many coöperative and co-managed enterprises with a distributist ethos. Nonetheless, the bulk of the union's membership are employed in ordinary industries as diverse as printing, fishing, metallurgy, healthcare, and soapmaking.
The CCTU has a close official relationship with the Caritist Social Union and similarly close ties with its state-level affiliate parties. Its regional organising committees wield significant political influence in Farravonia, Niyaska, Hanoram, and Fariva, especially the city of Béyasar.
