The island's history of sovereignty goes back to when the Empire of Burgundie has released Kandara (which also controlled Vardah) from its colonialism in 1795, shortly after the neighboring Kloi Empire took advantage of this and invaded Kandara, including Vardah. Klois have took control of the entire island and the entirety of northern Kandara until 1915, when the Kloi civil war resulted in socialist victory. Since Kandara and the Kandaran people helped the socialists greatly in victory, they were given their formerly invaded lands in return, including an eastern part of Vardah.
