The Caroline Wars were a series of conflicts between Urcea and states of the Holy Levantine Empire in the 18th and 19th centuries, fought primarily over control of the Grand Duchy of Carolina. The first two wars also involved fighting over control of the Emperor of the Levantines, contested between House de Weluta and the other members of the Empire. Although Urcea and House de Weluta failed to exert permanent control over the Empire, it ultimately secured control of the lands of the Grand Duchy of Carolina, which remain part of Urcea today. The Caroline Wars played a critical role in establishing enmity between Urcea and the Holy Levantine Empire, known as the Recess of the Julii, which would play a role in the decline and collapse of the Empire in the run up to the Great War, especially the Fraternal Wars.
