Origin
Ideology
The overarching and ultimate goal of the Party as enunciated in Linge Chen's seminal book, On the Nature of Earthly Power, is the accumulation and consolidation of unrivaled power in all spheres of Daxian life. Rigid values and principles are to be discarded in a mercenary search for advantage and an amorphous and vulgar pragmatism is to be followed at all times. Rather than principles, the Party sees its political positions only as tools to manipulate public opinions and perceptions. While always subject to change should the situation call for it, the post Linge Chen Party has more or less settled on a fixed number of policies that have historically maximized its appeal. While tentatively sensitive to public opinion as a basis for legitimacy, the Party routinely answered any challenge by viciously unleashing the organs of repression.
Nationalism
The PCD supports a nationalist ideology in which the Daxian people are not the only the preeminent nation in Alshar, but also have a historical destiny to rule the continent. Not as protectors against western aggression, but as masters of a hundred nations. While rarely invoked in discussion with foreigners, observers note that it manifests in Daxian diplomats who act in very thuggish manner behind closed doors when meeting representatives of 'weaker' nations.
One Party System
The Party maintains that its arrival to power is the result of a centuries long process of political maturation by the Daxian nation. Being the endpoint and ultimate product of this process, there can be no further political development and the Party and its structures are meant to rule forever.
Xenophobia
The otherization and ostracizing of the foreign dates back to the Imperial era and remains in vogue with vast segments of the population. The Party maintains that non-Daxian are inferior in intellect, untrustworthy and devious by nature and must be dealt with in the best of cases, at arms length. While violence against foreigners is not supported, their movement is heavily restricted and monitored and permanent residence is unavailable for them.
Imperialism
The Daxian state must forever engage in expansion and the struggle for supremacy; not in a civilizing endeavor, for non-Daxian are by themselves unworthy of being civilized, but to aggrandize, enrich and be of use to the Daxian. Always mindful of the international environment and the technical and manufacturing capabilities of the Daxian state, it shall nonetheless attempt to expand its reach through all means necessary.
State Atheism
As per Linge Chen's famous phrase 'The Daxian people will not reach their destiny until the last stone from the last temple is cast down onto the last priest, the Party is virulently anti religious and frowns upon religious worship of any and all stripes. This however has not precluded the toleration of certain religious communities and even the establishment of defacto unspoken alliances with them, using them as cheap manpower to achieve Party ends.
