Geography

Intravia was heavily glaciated during the last glacial maximum, endowing the state with some 14,000 lakes at least one hectare in area.

The climate of Intravia is humid continental, ranging from upper supratemperate in the far south to hemiboreal in its middle latitudes, transitioning to thermoboreal in the north and verging on mesoboreal in the extreme north and the higher elevations of some upland pockets in otherwise themoboreal areas.

History

Politics and Government

Society and Culture

The territory of Intravia extends into both the North Coast and Mid-Continental cultural regions of Great Kirav, and the state's culture draws primarily from these two regional cultures and the contributions of various Coscivian ethnic groups that have settled in the state. Vôtaska's culture, demographics, geography, lifestyle, and politics are similar to that of its western neighbour, Vôtaska, with both Vôtaskans and Intravians affectionately referring to theirs as "the Twin States" (Medhliārkæ).

Ethnosocial Groups

Intravia was settled mainly by Arnórian and Norborian Coscivians moving westward along the North Coast from Irovasdra, Vrykróva, and northern Kastera after these lands were depopulated in the Cromwelute Genocide, and by Kir Coscivians moving northwest from the former United Provinces. These waves of settlers were augmented by Antaric Coscivians, Northern Coscivians, Æran Coscivians, and Sēoran Coscivians during the Great Crossing, as well as Eshavian Coscivians, Meridian Finns, and Kiravian Celts.

The ice trade was a major source of economic growth in Intravia.

Agriculture has traditionally played a significant role in Intravia's economy, with a focus on the production of various crops, chiefly Coscivian cuckwheat, potato, and oats, as well as livestock grazing. Additionally, forestry is a vital sector in the region, given its abundant boreal and hemiboreal forests, which are an important source of timber and other forest-related products.

Intravia's industrial base has evolved over the years. Originally limited to timber and lumber processing and a smattering of light industries catering to local and regional markets at the advent of the industrial age, the Intravian manufacturing sector has since grown encompass various industries, such as the production of machinery and equipment, paper and pulp, and food processing (most notably the production of oat-based breakfast cereals, which are marketed nationally). There are several sizeable companies in the region involved in metallurgy and applications for byproducts of mining and smelting processes..

In recent years, Intravia has seen growth in the high technology and service sectors, including information technology and software development. Educational institutions and research centers in the region have been instrumental in fostering innovation and entrepreneurship. Furthermore, Intravia has made efforts to attract investments and promote tourism to boost its economy.

Intravia's natural beauty - both in the lowlands with their numerous scenic lakes and forests, and the highlands with their breathtaking scenery and bountiful opportunities for alpine recreation - has made it a destination for nature enthusiasts. Tourism has emerged as a very significant sector since the maturation of the post-reunification capitalist economy in the 2000s AD, with visitors from the coastal states arriving by the tens of thousands annually to explore the region's outdoor activities, cultural events, and historical sites, thus generating revenue and supporting the economies of many more remote communities.
