The Hanzeong 1950 Summer Games, also known as the First Istroyan Games, were an international multi-sport competition held in Hanzeong, Metzetta, in August 1950. Hanzeong was chosen at random by the International Istroyan Games Committee to host the games in an effort to repair worldwide diplomatic relations following the conclusion of the Second Great War. At the time they were simply known as the Hanzeong 1950 Games but since the introduction of the Winter Games in 1976 they have been retroactively referred to as Summer Games. The Games were attended by Metzettan royalty including Emperor Jan-Hu.

Medals

The medals were manufactured by the Imperial Mint. As the first ever medals they were relatively basic, with the obverse featuring the Istroyan Torch, the year and the names "Metzetta" and "Hanzeong" and the reverse featuring the magnolia blossom seen on Metzetta's flag.

Opening Ceremony

The opening ceremony began with the entrance of IIGC President Harold Scudder and Metzetta's representative for the Games, Crown Princess Seunsi, followed by the hoisting of the flag and a performance of the national anthem. Performers wearing Mettubok then played a rendition of the Magnolia Waltz on traditional Metzettan flutes called tanso. After a display of traditional dance, the athletes entered the stadium and speeches were given by Scudder and Seunsi. Lastly, the stadium's beacon was lit with the Istroyan Torch by An Changrim, lightweight Taekwondo master.

Closing Ceremony

After the entrance of the flag-bearers and athletes, the flags of Metzetta, Ancient Istroya and Urcea were raised. The demonstration sport chosen by Metzetta was Ssireum, a traditional form of wrestling. Following the demonstration, the IIGC President presented the medals for the Men's Marathon and Crown Princess Seunsi presented the medals for the Women's Marathon. The Crown Princess then presented Scudder with a special Istroyan Games Flag, who then passed it on to the Urcean representative as the games were symbolically transferred. Scudder made his closing remarks and the Istroyan Flame was extinguished.

Broadcasting and Marketing

Domestically the Games were covered by Baeyang Public Broadcasting on their flagship channel, BPB1. The games' sponsors included Hyansae Motors.

Mascot

The official mascot for the Games was Mwicha the Bear Cub, who featured heavily on advertising and merchandise.
