Although it is embedded within the Imperial Army, it has a level of autonomy in that it is not under direct jurisdiction of the army. The PAI is also highly secretive, with the personnel only known by the top officials of Aciria.
Prior to 2011, the PAI was lead by a director picked by the Head of Imperial Defense, but in 2011 Cesario Fusillo, the Head of Imperial Defense merged the title with the Head of Imperial Defense.
History
Formation
With corruption and instability rampant in the region closer to 200 years, Giovanni I formed the PAI to root out corruption plaguing the nation alongside preventing further revolts by sending agents to infiltrate and take out the key elements of the to-be revolts before it had the opportunity to start. The PAI was highly successful with their domestic operations, causing the formation of the foreign intelligence branch in 1909.
