Founded initially as Edon Multimedia in 1978 by media tycoon Chiro Edonsere, the company began as a modest media house focusing on print journalism and regional broadcasting. Over the years, Edon Multimedia expanded its operations, gradually acquiring smaller media entities and diversifying its content offerings to include radio, television, and later digital platforms. In 2008, the company rebranded to Edon Media and focused on sensationalism in an attempt win the television rating wars. In 2010, rival media company Remor Network - owned by the Remor Estate, a family with a long history in media and entertainment, attempted a hostile takeover of Edon Media. After a lengthy legal process, the takeover was blocked in court in 2012. In 2016 however, Edon Media and Remor Network reached an agreement to merge, forming the Edon-Remor Corporation.

Today, Edon-Remor's portfolio is vast and varied, encompassing television and radio stations, print publications, film and television production companies, and digital platforms. It operates several news channels, entertainment networks, sports channels, lifestyle magazines, and online news portals. While it is not directly controlled by the Caphirian state, its content often aligns with the state's narratives, leading to perceptions of it being a "state mouthpiece". However, the corporation maintains its editorial independence and has often broken stories that challenge the status quo.

Today, the Edonsere Estate and the Remor Estate jointly manage the ERC. The Edonsere Estate, represented by the heirs of Chiro Edonsere, controls 31% of the corporation's shares. On the other hand, the Remor Estate, continuing the legacy of its media-savvy forebears, controls 29% of the shares. The rest of the shares are held by various investors and stockholders.

Over the years, ERC has gained a reputation for its high-quality journalism, innovative programming, and impactful storytelling. It has played a crucial role in shaping public opinion and discourse in Caphiria and beyond. Despite facing criticism for its perceived proximity to the state, ERC continues to be a dominant player in Caphiria's media industry, leveraging its vast resources and influence to set the agenda and drive conversations on a range of topics.
