Co. Voneın was named for the [[Vithinja]]n island of [[Vonein]]. The name was proposed in 1727 AD by the lieutenant governor of East Æonara, [[Angus O'Day]], who as a young mariner had participated in [[History_of_Burgundie#Clipper_Ships|baiting Burgundine clippers]] in the waters near Vonein.
