The Pentad's composition was that of four associate members and one rotating primary, who acted as the face of government. The Governor's office began with inaugural holder, Gaspar Solarsano, a native of what is now the [[Victoria County, Verona|Twin Cities]] area and sitting primary pentite in 1611. Alongside Verona's General Assembly and in preparation for the then-province's second attempt at independence, the Pentad was dissolved and reorganized into the office of the governor, lieutenant governor, executive secretary (now Secretary of the Commonwealth), auditor general (now Commonwealth Controller), and solicitor general (now the lieutenant of the Attorney General), in an effort to strengthen the executive role within its jurisdiction. | |||
