The state of Alexandria is currently divided into 117 counties, the fifth-most of the states in Cartadania. Under the Alexandria State Constitution, all of its counties are granted home rule to deal with problems that are purely local in nature. Also, two consolidated city-counties have been established in Alexandria: Alexandria (city) and New Venceia.
The Cartadanian Institute of Geography and Statistics (ICGE) code, which is used by the Cartadanian government to uniquely identify geographic features, is provided with each entry. Alexandria's state code is 03 (county code 03136), which when combined with any geographic code would be written in the form of 03XXXXXX. For example, the ICGE code for Acini County is 03136001.
