Triessa: Difference between revisions

Triessa started as a loose collection of city-states with a common purpose arising just before the fall of [[Adonerum]]. It was subsumed into Caphiria around 518 B.C, when it was combined with the area that is today parts of [[Cambria]] and all of [[São Andreas]]. The region, known in Caphiria as ''Mandera'', was an autonomous colony of the [[Caphiria|Republic of Caphiria]] until 105 B.C. when it became an autonomous province. Its sister colony, Luridarinis, became the province of [[Luria]] around the same time as Mandera was partitioned into Tarvisium and Sanctus Andreas. Tarvisium became an autonomous province and its outreach increased toward the end of the Republic era.

The province of Tarvisium was important for the production of grains early in its history, hence the establishment and naming of Granarium (now Granaria), which is today the largest city in Triessa. Because of the Luridarian Conflict a few centuries before, the production of grain left a bitter taste in the mouth of many Triessan people, and the extreme differences between Urlazian provinces and mainland Caphiria, generated a period of distrust and aversion towards being part of the country as a whole. In a way, the majority of the disdain was caused by Avonatepes of Luridarinis, historical leader of Luridarinis before its ascension to the Province of Luria, and his misuse of resources in the Lurian valley. It is thought that some of his subjects may have fled to Tarvisium out of necessity. Although Tarvisium became a state of Cartadania in 1718, the ties with Caphirian Urlazio have been strong since the settlement of the area. The cultures of both areas are very similar, and when Tarvisium became Triessa, it also earned the nickname ''Linewalker'' in reference to its relationship with the provinces across the Luro-Mandera line that separates Cartadania from Caphiria on Urlazio.
