The Arcerion Ministry of Finance, or simply the Ministry of Finance/Finance Ministry, is a portfolio in the Government of Arcerion, answering to the 2nd Deputy Minister for Domestic Affairs. The Minister of Finance is responsible for managing the fiscal, financial and related regulatory affairs of the Confederated Provinces of Arcerion. The post historically was known as the Crown-Governor's Treasury, and was changed in 1828 with increased reforms and bureaucratic changes to the then-colony of Arcerion.

History

From the colonial founding of Arcerion until the beginning of economic and financial independence in the 19th century. In 1828 the Crown-Governor's treasurer (and by extension the Crown-Governor's Treasury), was renamed to the Ministry of Finance, with a staff of fifty accountants, auditors, and staff. The creation of a Tariff Office in 1846 became the first subordinate department of the Ministry of Finance.

In 1902 it added the Crown Revenue Agency, to collect income tax and sales tax on goods, to augment the Tariff Office which regulated cross-border and maritime trade.

In 1911 the Ministry of Finance began publishing budgets for the Acer Federal Government, which were then approved by the Crown-Governor of Arcerion on behalf of the Carnish Crown, after recommendation from the Prime Minister's Office.

The Ministry of Finance was subordinated to the 2nd Deputy Minister as part of the Confederate Parliamentary Reforms of the 1960s, where it became part of the domestic portfolio, despite having limited international authorities. The Ministry established a working relationship with the with the Foreign Office (Ministry of Foreign Affairs) by establishing the first Foreign Commerce Office in 1964, which had representatives from the Tariff Office, Treasury Office, and the Ministry's administrative headquarters. It was established in Burgundie, to cement the trading relationship between the two Occidental nations. Prior to this the Foreign Secretary had posted foreign civil servants on behalf of the Ministry to conduct this activity.

After Arcer independence, the Finance Ministry began posting regular budgets for the federal government, and as per directive from the Confederate Parliament, these were to be published no later than six months after the Prime Minister assuming office.

Relationship with Treasury Office

The Arcerion Ministry of Finance manages almost all federal and day-to-day aspects of regulating the economy, taxation, and centralized banking of Acerion. The Treasury Office serves as a coordinating office between the variety of different economic agencies, ministries, and key partners involved with the use of federal funds, deficits, and regular reporting to the Prime Minister's Office. The Ministry of Finance reports to the Treasury Office's main body, the Office of the Exchequer, which is an oversight and compliance agency that prevents the misappropriation of federal funds and investigates financial crimes in support of the Ministry of Justice.
