The Seat of the Directorate is the office of the head of state of Faneria. Formerly titled 'Despot', a holdover of a joke made about the first leader of the Republic, Callac Cananach, the position was renamed in 2018 when the sitting official, Brennan Cían Walaerin, requested the change during the political upset of his switch from the Starkist to the Futurist faction within the CRP. The position is elected every five years, and holds the typical powers of an executive branch, approving laws made by the legislature, directing the overall geopolitical, diplomatic, military, and economic goals of the country, and acting as the face of the nation. The Director may not concurrently hold a seat in the Assembly or a position as a minister.
The Director of the Republic is head of state, with the powers of the Head of Government resting nominally in the subordinate office of the Taesteach. The Directorate is an elected position selected for by a two-stage vote; popular vote among citizens from a pool of candidates from every party able to claim more than five percent of the electorate, encouraging small parties to confederate during election seasons. These candidates may be barred from running by a 2/3rds majority in the Assembly. The term of office for the Seat is five years, with a hard limit of six terms - however, no Director has ever held the position for more than five terms, which is generally considered a soft limit out of respect for the Republic's first head of state, Callac Cananach.

Legal Powers
Staff Bureau to the Directorate
The National Leadership Council is a permanent body of appointed officials picked to assist, inform, and advise the sitting Director. The NLC is generally composed of 12-16 members, and always must include the Taesteach, the three Assembly Speakers, and two members from each dedicated Advisory Division. There are no requirements for other positions; these tend to be filled by ministers whose tasks are of particular import at any given time, industrial, science, or military specialists, and so on. Members hold no special privileges beyond their other position/s, but an appointment to the NLC is typically taken as a sign of considerable respect and as a mark of expertise.
Administrative Enforcement Department
Foreign Advisory Division
This group collates information and advises the Director on foreign relations and affairs, and is assigned jointly by the Office of Political Security, The Office of the National Army, and the Office of Trade and Travel.
Military Advisory Division
The Office of the National Army selects these representatives to ensure communication and appropriate advice is available for military and intelligence matters.
Civil Advisory Division
The Civil Advisory Division is appointed from the ranks of the Office of Civil Services, and advises on topics of infrastructure, education, internal demographics and environment, science, and the economy. It is generally the most influential of the advisory groups, typically being appointed additional members outside the minimum requirement of two.
Legal Advisory Division
This Division is selected by the Office of the Treasury and the Office of the Courts, and advises the Director on their legal powers, obligations, and culpability, as well as topics regarding handling corruption within the government.
Special Commission and Atypical Issues Division
This Division advises the Director on classified information and security outside the purview of the Army as well as general miscellaneous topics not covered by other groups.
