Executions by boiling in Puertego
Execution by boiling has a long history in Puertego with the practice dating back to ancient civilizations in the countries current territory with the method often being reserved for crimes such as treason and preforming assassinations, the execution was preformed with a rope and pulley system to lower the victim into the boiling oil and pull them out in order to prolong the execution and cause the victim more pain. Deaths from this execution method are rather low with only 22 reported cases of someone being executed by boiling since the countries independence to the official abolition of the method in 1981 with all of the crimes of the executed being various treason charges ranging from selling government secrets to the nations enemies to attempting to assassinate the Puertegan president. The method of execution remains officially outlawed in Puertego under the current government however the government has been accused of continuing the practice in secret however boilings are thought to be used as a method of torture instead of execution by the government, according to former Puertegan detainee and terror suspect Ferdinand Miguel the government submerged him in boiling engine oil by Puertegan authorities in order to try and extract a confession out of him giving him permanent third degree burns all across his body, blinding him in one eye, and severely limiting his vision in the other. Miguel soon died after the torture from both the boiling and the severe beating he received beforehand with the government allegedly attempting to this up by listing his cause of death as being from a fight with other prisoners and giving the guards a bonus equivalent to $5,000 in order to try and keep them quiet about it. However two years after the incident reportedly happened one of the guards responsible fled to Pelaxia and reported the incident to international human rights organizations with his identity being kept anonymous in order to protect him and his family.
