Fronte Democratico (Ænglish: Democratic Front) is an Acirian constitutional monarchist and liberal party active in Aciria.
Campaigning for constitutional monarchy has had a long history in Aciria, beginning in the late 19th century. Most parties advocating for lessened power of the crown have either dissolved or been forced to dissolve, but Fronte Democratico was born from a merger between two struggling parties advocating for constitutional monarchy known as Partito Popolare and Partito Senatoriale. The party's founder, Maurio Valentile, saved the two parties from economic ruin by promising to bail them out would the two parties merge into one. The proposal was accepted, and thus Fronte Democratico was born.
The party is unique in the manner it has gathered more support from the populace than any party advocating for reduced crown powers before and without facing major repression by the Imperial Seat. Particularly following the ascension of Ignazio I, the party has enjoyed vast amounts of freedom and its current president, Gasperico Ferrarone, has personally met with the Emperor on two occasions.
History
Links to paramilitaries
The founder of Fronte Democratico, Maurio Valentile, has been a controversial figure due to his public support of the Acirian Liberation Movement. Thus, Fronte Democratico has been often associated with the paramilitary organization and allegedly have supported them financially in the past. Current president Ferrarone has tried to distance the party from this history in recent years.
